Ten fun activities for kids during school holidays, but why stop at ten? School holiday activities are a dime a dozen. Keeping kids occupied during school season is easy. During the holidays it becomes harder and more of a challenge. Of course, when you hear the word ‘holiday’, all you want to do is veg out and relax. Do things you like and possibly enjoy. More so for children. Vacation is a synonym for game time, gadget use and all-nighters.

Entertaining them for more than a day can prove to be a challenge. School holiday activities can be a lot of fun. But sometimes making the kids like it is next to impossible. But not entirely impossible. There are at least ten fun activities for kids during school holidays.

Have a theme day –  this is a great idea. It could be princess one day or everything black the next. All activities for that day is to revolve around the theme.

Obstacle courses inside or out – Planning and making the obstacle course is already an activity in itself. Make it sturdy enough to undergo more than a couple of rounds of fun.

A dress up play – It could be a made up story or a fairy tale. Part of the creative process is making them decide for parts and direction of the play.

Plan and plant a garden – A garden is a healthy activity for children of all ages. It teaches patience and a grounding project.

Make a story spot – A practice corner for reading out loud and re-enacting stories. Can also be a reading nook, oratory / declamation spot.

Walk on the beach and collect seashells – preferably barefoot. Not only is it therapeutic, it is guaranteed to give you a foot massage, great exfoliation and perhaps you’ll burn some calories.

Draw a big map, colour it and make a puzzle from it – This could be a whole city or a treasure map. If you are making a treasure map, great to actually have a treasure hunt after putting it back together.
