A recent survey on Sydney sex trends revealed some stunning realities about the sex lives of the horny inhabitants of Australia’s most fertile city.

Ever wondered just how many people are having sex in Sydney at any given moment? The research company, Wallace, Cannings and Connors, claim that at any moment, there are 34,348 people having sex in Sydney.

Of course, these chronological patterns have their crescendos. The peak time is from 10.30pm to 1.30am, when the statistics convey that around 217,298 people are “doing it”.

In a population of over five million, the most popular myth is that at least one person in twenty is “getting it daily”. This would be a mis-interpretation of the facts, however. For one person to get it daily, they would need to be having sex with another person, which doubles the amount of people who are likely to be having sex “outside the search results”, as Wallace, Cannings and Connors spokeperson Aleasha Michaels admits.

According to Michaels, this means that at peak times, which are Tuesday and Wednesday nights “when regular couples admit to having sex most regularly”, there may be more than 400,000 people actually having sex.

Does sex with yourself count? I asked Michaels whether masturbation can still be counted towards the survey.

“Certainly, with a large part of the Sydney population being single, we did include masturbation as an act of sex,” she reports.

The question begs, therefore, as to just what type of sex is the most popular in Sydney? The results, taken from a survey of over 4000 people, support many of our preconceptions relating to population, geography, and overall horniness.
